West Valley man arrested in DWI crash

SHELDON – A 57-year-old West Valley man was arrested by Wyoming County sheriff deputies on felony drunken driving-related charges after allegedly causing a two-car property damage accident Nov. 20 at State Route 77 and Route 20A, the sheriff’s office announced Monday.

Paul J. Bentkowski of Route 240 was arrested after his northbound car on State Route 77 rear-ended a car at the intersection with Route 20A after that vehicle had stopped for the stop sign at the intersection. Bentkowski who was found have two prior DWI convictions locally since 2010 was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and following too closely. Bentkowski faces further proceedings in Sheldon Town Court Dec. 14, according to the sheriff’s office.
