SISTER MARY ANN SCHUTZ, OSF - (Formerly Sister Timothy) born in Buffalo, NY, on March 12, 1930, died on November 28, 2015, at the Sisters of St. Francis Health Center, Stella Niagara, NY. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen Brown Schutz. Following graduation from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Buffalo, NY, Sister Mary Ann entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity, Stella Niagara, NY, on September 4, 1949, and was professed on August 18, 1952. She attended Rosary Hill (Daemen) College, Buffalo, NY, where she received a B.S. degree in Education in 1961. Sister Mary Ann's principal work was elementary education. She taught at St. Joachim School, St. Lawrence School, St. Benedict School, and Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, in Buffalo, NY, and at Stella Niagara Education Park, Stella Niagara, NY; Sacred Heart School and Holy Rosary School, in Columbus, Ohio; St. Agnes School, in Atlantic Highlands and St. Mary School, in New Monmouth, New Jersey. Sister Mary Ann also served in the parish office at St. Benedict Parish, Eggertsville, NY and as Shared Services Department Assistant, at Stella Niagara, NY. Sister Mary Ann retired and lived in Buffalo, NY from 2007-2012 and became a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center in December of 2014. She is survived by a sister Marjorie (Ronald) Ahrens, many nieces and nephews, and her sisters in community. Sister Mary Ann was the niece of the late Sister Mary Harold Brown, SSJ. Sister Mary Ann will be waked at Stella Niagara Convent on Wednesday from 3-7:00 PM, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00AM in the Sisters' Chapel at Stella Niagara.
