Agents from the SPCA Serving Erie County seized 55 cats, including feral cats, during its latest raid on Donna Canorro’s Bob The Cat Animal Rescue operation at 39 Creekview Drive in West Seneca Monday afternoon.
The cats seized Monday were suffering from upper respiratory infections, ringworm, conjunctivitis and worse conditions, according to SPCA spokeswoman Gina Browning. All of the cats were taken to the SPCA’s facility at 205 Ensminger road in the Town of Tonawanda for treatment.
The SPCA has raided the operation multiple times since November 2004 which has resulted in the SPCA administering some level of care to more than 500 of Canorro’s cats, Browning said.
The SPCA obtained a West Seneca Town Court search warrant for the Monday afternoon raid. Representatives of Feral Cat Focus took part in the raid to deal with the feral cats found at the site.
The American Humane Association’s Red Star Rescue team and officials of both the Erie and Niagara County Departments of Health also assisted in the Monday afternoon proceedings.
Canorro was not arrested Monday and could not be reached to comment Monday evening. Canorro would be facing animal cruelty or other charges, according to SPCA officials.
