Aborted pass attempt results in driver overturning in ditch

A woman escaped injury – but not a ticket – when her car left the road and overturned into a ditch Saturday, according to Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies said Elizabeth J. Brown, 23, of Vollentine Road, Randolph, pulled out to pass in a no-passing zone on Route 242 in Napoli just as a vehicle in front of her did the same. She then over-corrected as she returned to the driving lane, lost control, and her Chrysler Sebring rolled over in the ditch, deputies said in a news release. Brown, who refused treatment at the scene, was ticketed for unsafe passing, deputies said.
