With one winless streak gone, Sabres need to end another in Nashville

NASHVILLE – The Sabres finally ended one winless streak Friday. Now they’ll need to end another.

Nashville hosts Buffalo on Saturday night in Bridgestone Arena, and the Predators carry a five-game winning streak over the Sabres. They’ve outscored the Sabres, 17-5, during the run.

Buffalo hasn’t won since a 3-2 victory in Nashville on Dec. 3, 2011. The game was Ryan Miller’s first since being concussed by Boston’s Milan Lucic, and the goaltender started throwing punches when the Predators’ Jordin Tootoo ran him.

The incident was a "joke" in one of Lindy Ruff's better rants.

The Predators have a number of players with streaks against Buffalo:

*Goaltender Carter Hutton is 4-0-0 with a 1.22 goals-against average. He was in net for Wednesday’s 3-2 victory during the first matchup between the teams.

*Ryan Ellis has points in two straight games against the Sabres (three assists).

*Mike Fisher has a point in four of his last five games (two goals, two assists).

*Craig Smith has scored a point in five of the last six meetings (four goals, two assists).

*Shea Weber has scored a point in three of his last five (three goals, two assists).

*Colin Wilson has recorded a point in five of his last six versus the Sabres (one goal, five assists).

Because both teams played Friday, neither had a morning skate.

The Sabres arrived in Nashville having shed their six-game winless streak. Brian Gionta helped key the 4-1 victory over Carolina.

Nashville ended a five-game road trip with a 3-2 overtime loss in Philadelphia. The Predators went 1-3-1, with the only victory coming in Buffalo.
