Where we live: Depew


The village’s annual tree lighting celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. Monday with the High School chorus caroling at the gazebo in Firemen’s Park, Erie Street and Gould Avenue.

Family activities include a parade of decorated Depew fire trucks, bringing Santa Claus and a countdown to the tree lighting at the gazebo. Tree decorations are provided by Cayuga Heights and John A. Sciole Elementary School studentts.

Free hot chocolate and cookies will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the village ice rink. Free open public skating with the donation of a canned good or $1 per person donation to Tri-Community Food Pantry.

From 7 to 8:30 p.m., sing-a-long wagon rides with Santa will be done throughout the park. Lighted lawn decorations have been created by Depew High School technology classes. Free parking available at the ice rink.
