In order to give Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian the best chance for success in Friday night's game, Dan Bylsma gave them the morning skate off.
With both coming off injuries, the Sabres head coach said they would be a "game-time decision."
"Just giving them the best chance to be good in the game tonight by not going on the ice today," Bylsma said.
Tyler Ennis, meanwhile, continues to be out with an upper-body injury.
"There’s no time table on Tyler," Bylsma said, while noting that Chad Johnson will get the start in goal as the Sabres host the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 in First Niagara Center.
It's the first of three meetings between the teams this season but they will not meet again until March 12.
The Hurricanes are 8-10-4 overall coming off a 4-1 win against Edmonton.
"Watching them on my Thanksgiving Day, they’re an aggressive team," Bylsma said. They "come really aggressive at you early and often with their fore check. They’re a hardworking team and they're a team you see," put "a lot of big bodies, strong bodies around the net, making plays low, throwing pucks into the blue paint and being good there. In that regard, you look at their team you see some similarities our team and how we play."
