Letter: Give people a voice in political process

Give people a voice in political process

To create involvement in the political process and increase voter turnout, the public must have more of a voice and a choice. Public forums at all levels of governmental legislative bodies is the perfect place to start.

Open and simplify the process to introduce referendums and changes to the law. Pass an ethics bill that is strict and enforceable. Start to reduce and/or eliminate perks and stipends. Answer why legislators have lifetime health insurance for a job that is basically part time.

People are sick and tired of the term “dirty politics.” It’s time to have positive campaigns and put the voters first. Otherwise, we should take all the money out of re-election campaigns and save the public from those nasty ads on TV.
