Authorities charged a Niagara Falls man with leaving the scene of an accident on Grand Island after his car was tracked to a collision shop in the Falls.
The crash happened at about 6 p.m. Friday on Grand Island Boulevard where a turning vehicle was hit from behind, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered non-lifethreatening injuries but was transported to a hospital. His 9-year-old daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the crash but was released from the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies and Grand Island police determined the hit-and-run vehicle’s license plate number. Niagara Falls police contacted the sheriff’s office Saturday after a vehicle matching the make and with front-end damage was found in a collision shop.
Justin Walton, 31, was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, following too closely and depositing debris on a highway.
