Mazurkiewicz will serve Wilson Foundation well
If the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation’s choice of local resident Jerry Mazurkiewicz as a trustee of Wilson’s financial legacy is an indication of its commitment to integrity, thoughtful funding and supreme honesty, it has chosen well. Mazurkiewicz has spent the last 30 years serving on foundation boards as well as giving his “talent and treasure.” I know of no one more respected in the community volunteer arena.
An executive of a well-known company sat with his CFO and finance team and they were stymied with a tax problem. All of a sudden the comment emerged, “let’s call Maz; he will have the answer.” Five minutes later, Mazurkiewicz was on the phone solving their problem. I guarantee you the executive directors of all the foundations he serves on have had the same situation.
Whether it is the Women and Children’s Hospital, the planning for the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital, Community Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, University at Buffalo Foundation, Catholic Diocese Foundation, among many others, Mazurkiewicz has been an integral part of their success.
It is impossible to count the times I have called him for advice on a potential donor or to assist with strategic planning for a campaign. He was always available with his input, time and guidance. He has made us all successful. He has made life better for those in need in our community.
With this thoughtful appointment, Wilson’s legacy will live on past the 20 years of its financial life. Congratulations to Mary Wilson, Mary Owen, Jeff Littmann and Eugene Driker on their choice. Congratulations to Mazurkiewicz for this recognition, so well-deserved.
