One person was killed and four others were hospitalized after their vehicle failed to negotiate a turn Sunday morning and crashed on Tonawanda Creek Road in Clarence, overturning and striking a tree, authorities said.
A 19-year-old Clarence woman died following the crash, which occurred at 9:30 a.m. in the area of 9915 Tonawanda Creek Road, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported late Sunday.
Five victims were transported to Erie County Medical Center after the vehicle rolled over and struck the tree, trapping them inside, officials said. The Clarence and Rapids volunteer fire companies responded to the scene.
Three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance, while one man and one woman were flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC with critical injuries, officials said. Their names and conditions were not released.
