Drivers who use Route 198 need to make voices heard
There is a need to maintain the Scajaquada Expressway. Buffalo is fortunate to have an east-west route of red lights, stop signs and cross streets. This keeps traffic moving and thus reduces pollution from car and truck emissions.
Imagine the congestion on Delavan and Amherst streets if there was no Route 198. How long would it take to get to work or that appointment without the expressway?
I am urging citizens to attend future public meetings on this issue. Participation is important, especially of residents who need to use the expressway. At the last public meeting, the majority attending favored reducing Route 198 to a street with a bike path. Residents needing this expressway must speak up or risk just complaining after the expressway is lost.
