Two men were arrested by Northwest District police after a car chase on the West Side early Saturday.
Kwar Mei, 24, of Arkansas Street, and Eh Shee, 20, of West Avenue, were arrested after the chase that began at 12:30 a.m., when police saw a car fishtail with squealing tires past a stop sign at Arkansas and Herkimer streets.
Police chased the vehicle south down Herkimer Street, but lost it. Doubling back to Arkansas, the car was again spotted, heading west. The passenger opened the door, threw out an unknown item and got back inside. The chase ended in the 600 block of Plymouth Avenue.
Officers found three bags of alleged cocaine in the passenger side door, and the passenger allegedly threatened to kill the officers if he was arrested, and repeatedly spat inside a patrol car after being handcuffed, police said.
Charges included a misdemeanor drug possession count, tampering with evidence, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, unsafe starting and running a stop sign.
