Warrant issued for student who allegedly passed bad check

SANBORN – A warrant was issued for a Niagara County Community College student accused of fraudulently withdrawing $1,980 after she deposited a fake check in the Alliance credit union on campus.

The suspect, Arriell J. Mussi, 21, of Block St., Buffalo, deposited $1,980 in her account on Oct. 29 and withdrew the money in cash, taking out the maximum $500 withdrawal, from two separate branches, over two days. A credit union manager found later that the check from a fake company had been bought off the internet.

When Mussi was confronted by the credit union she told them she didn’t know the check was fake and agreed to make repayments from her campus job.

However, Mussi failed to show up for work and was terminated when she was found to be absent from classes.

A warrant was issued by the Niagara County Sheriff Department for third-degree possession of a forced instrument and felony fourth-degree grand larceny.
