A deadly plot to steal valuable comic books from an elderly Medina man will send a Rochester woman to prison for 20 years.
Arlene Combs, 30, admitted taking part in a plan to steal the $30,000 comic book collection from Homer Marciniak, a 77-year old retired janitor, and that Marciniak died as a result of the robbery. She pleaded guilty to racketeering.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony M. Bruce said Combs staked out Marciniak’s home and recruited the defendants who later broke into the house, struck him and tied him up that day in 2010. He died of a heart attack the following day.
The ringleader behind the plot, Rico J. Vendetti, a Rochester restaurant and tavern owner, will also face 20 years in prison when sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.
