How they got here: First-time Section VI champion South Park beat Brockport, 20-7, in the Far West Regional last week. Maine-Endwell crushed Section III champion Whitesboro, 42-7, in the Central Regional.

Pre-snap read: Maine-Endwell is currently on a state record 62-game winning streak. The Spartans have won four straight state titles and last lost a game to Whitesboro of Section III, 40-14, in the 2010 Central Regional.

Maine-Endwell is all business when it comes to this tournament. It is the only school to ever win four state titles in a row. The Spartans’ all-time record in states is 16-2 with five championships overall. The only other team close to their .889 tournament win percentage is Randolph at .882 (15-2).

Maybe the Spartans are due for an upset.

In order for South Park to continue its history-making season, it will not only have to control and protect the ball on offense but remain patient enough to wait for the big play to present itself. With the Sparks’ offensive talent, there will be opportunities for their offense to go vertical for six. They must cash in on them and not waste those opportunities. South Park also has to figure out a way to at least slow down the Spartans’ vaunted triple-option offense, which has steamrolled foes for years.

What’s next: The winner advances to the state finals at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse at 3 p.m. on Nov. 27. It wil play the winner of the game between Our Lady of Lourdes (I) and Amsterdam (II).
