Former Erie County DMV clerk spared prison

Michael Anthony Young, 49, of Buffalo, a former clerk in the Erie County Department of Motor Vehicles, was placed on probation for one-year Thursday by U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder Jr. on his conviction for illegally obtaining information from a protected government computer, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Young was charged earlier this year with using his job as a motor vehicle representative to solicit bribes to help people in completing paperwork and passing driving permit examinations. He was convicted of inputing false permit test results into the State DMV computer systems.
