BNRinkside: Providence retains top spot in national poll

Last weekend was a rematch of the 2015 national championship and ... Providence and Boston University tied. Twice.

Still the Friars, the defending national champs, kept the No. 1 spot in the USCHO.com poll with a 6-0-3 record.

Yeah, they're still not No. 1 on my ballot yet because teams ahead of them keep winning. Boston College kept my first-place vote by sweeping Michigan State. I also like Quinnipiac, the only undefeated team in the country, and North Dakota, now officially the "Fighting Hawks," retained my No. 2 spot.

I kept Minnesota-Duluth in my top 20, but at No. 20 because I still think they're a good team but at 3-5-3 the Bulldogs are underperforming.

Here's my ballot, a bit late I know. I'm still on vacation time:

1. Boston College
2. North Dakota
3. Quinnipiac
4. Providence
5. Nebraska-Omaha
6. UMass-Lowell
7. St. Cloud State
8. Bowling Green
9. Yale
10. Harvard
11. St. Lawrence
12. Boston University
13. Denver
14. Merrimack
15. Michigan
16. Minnesota State
17. Michigan Tech
18. Notre Dame
19. Wisconsin
20. Minnesota-Duluth
