Traffic stop results in drunken driving charge

WHEATFIELD – A Lockport man who failed to stop for a traffic light on Lockport Road faced more serious charged after Niagara County sheriff’s deputies determined he was intoxicated, registering a blood alcohol level more than two and a half times the legal limit.

Justin S. Sharpsteen, 30, of Locust Street, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood level of 0.21 percent when he was stopped just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

He told deputies he had been at a party and finished a six-pack of beer with his friends.
