Suspicious vehicle reported by Newfane student

NEWFANE – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies were called to Newfane High School after a male student reported an unknown man stopped and offered to give him a ride on Wednesday morning.

The student said he was walking to school at 8:40 a.m. on Ewings Road near Main Street when a white man in his 40s with black hair and a beard offered to give him a ride. The vehicle was described as a small, silver, four-door Ford.

The juvenile said he refused, but the man persisted saying he was “credible because he worked in Newfane” and was just trying to be nice because it was raining. The juvenile refused again and the driver left.

The school reported the incident because they were concerned, reported deputies.
