Lockport sex offender sent to prison on probation violation

LOCKPORT – A Level 1 sex offender was sentenced Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III to one to three years in state prison for violating the terms of his probation.

Kenneth W. Scott, 56, of Locust Street, Lockport, had been placed on probation in 2011 for failing to report a change of address to the state, as required by the Sex Offender Registration Act. At the time, Scott was living in Newfane, but he moved to Lockport after pleading guilty to the felony count of failing to register.

However, Scott violated probation by drinking alcohol and allowing a woman whom police regarded as a known drug user to stay in his apartment. Scott became a registered sex offender in 2006, after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of sexually abusing a 23-year-old woman.
