Buffalo State: Dale Stewart (Niagara Falls) and Shaq Frederick (Brooklyn) earned Empire 8 Football Weekly honors in football. Stewart, a sophomore, was named the top special teams performer off a 28-16 victory over Utica as he matched a school record with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown. All told, Stewart finished with 204 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including 104 rushing yards on 18 carries. Frederick, a senior linebacker, was named the conference defensive player of the week. He finished with 18 tackles, including two for loss, and a sack. He led a Bengals defense that did not allow an offensive touchdown and surrendered just 35 rushing yards and 239 yards of total offense. ... In women’s soccer, senior Gabrianna Boldinski (Kenmore East) was tabbed as SUNYAC defensive player of the week. She anchored the defense as Buffalo State posted two more shutouts, ran its unbeaten streak to 13 and clinched the SUNYAC regular-season crown. Boldinski also scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Oneonta.
