Residents of two Orchard Park apartments being assisted by Red Cross

Two garages at the rear of 3211 Abbott Road in Orchard Park were destroyed by fire Monday afternoon, and the Red Cross was assisting residents of apartments above the garages. There were no reports of injuries.

Orchard Park Police, all three town fire companies and firefighters from four other fire companies were alerted to the fire about 5:50 p.m.

Initial findings indicated food left cooking on an untended stove might have played a part in the fire. Fire companies from Scranton, Newton Abbott, West Falls and Armor assisted at the scene.
