Detour set during Robert Moses Parkway closure in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – The southbound lanes of the Robert Moses Parkway between the traffic circle at John B. Daly Boulevard and the I-190 are closed through Friday.

A detour out of downtown Niagara Falls along Buffalo Avenue was instituted at 7 a.m. Monday, with the parkway lanes expected to reopen by 7 p.m. Friday.

The closure is part of the project to move the Old Stone Chimney to an area known as the “spoils pile,” which is closer to the Niagara River shoreline than its former spot on a parkway embankment. The project includes the installation of storm water drainage, the New York Power Authority said.

Traffic on the parkway in the other direction will be detoured Tuesday and Wednesday for paving work.
