2,500 National Grid customers in Amherst hit by outage blamed on winds

Winds gusting up to 31 mph took down one power line in Amherst Saturday night, cutting service to 2,500 customers, a National Grid spokesman said.

The power outage was reported at 8:15 p.m.. Service was restored in one hour, the spokesman said. Amherst police said traffic lights on Main Street were affected by the outage. No accidents were reported.
