Running red light leads to stolen car charge

An 18-year-old Zelmer Street man was arrested for driving a car stolen from an Amherst woman after he was pulled over for going through a red light about 6:30 a.m. Friday at Bailey Avenue and Langfield Drive.

Joshua Hobes, who initially claimed he was driving a car belonging to a friend, was charged with fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property after owner of the car confirmed it was her vehicle. Hobes also was charged with driving without a license and driving through a red light.
