It isn’t up there with the question of whether Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel will get better reviews Sunday against Jacksonville in London, England than he did a week earlier against Cincinnati.
But one wonders if the week-long TV hype surrounding the overseas game will help continue the Bills’ record-setting TV ratings this season or if the 9:30 a.m. start and the team’s 3-3 start will bring down the ratings on Channel 4.
Through six games this season, the Bills are averaging a 41.7 rating for five games carried on Channel 4 and one game on WUTV.
That’s a little more than 11 percent higher than the 37.4 rating average for the first six games last season.
CBS’ play-by-play man Kevin Harlan and analyst Rich Gannon are calling their second Bills game of the season.
A former All-Pro quarterback, Gannon will likely offer the first meaningful review of Manuel’s play Sunday.
The hype surrounding the July 4th weekend wedding of Vanessa Williams in Buffalo last summer continues at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 on cable television's WETV in the premiere episode of “David Tutera’s Celebrations.”
In the episode, Tutera plans the bridal shower of the singer and actress who married Depew’s Jim Skrip.
Here’s what a WETV release said of the program starring Tutera, who began a career as an event planner at age 19 and has become a leading wedding expert: “As a huge fan of her work, David is determined to exceed Vanessa’s expectations. Everything seems to be going according to plan until David’s team meets Vanessa’s friend, Keva, who has her own ideas about what is best for the former Miss America. Will David’s team be able to handle the pressure?”
I’m guessing the pressure on EJ Manuel will be much greater than it is on Tutera.
