Man returned to Allegany County accused of failing to register as sex offender

BELMONT – A man arrested in Buffalo Tuesday amd turned over to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is accused of failing to register as a sex offender when he moved.

Michael D. Manka, 45, was arrested in an East Tupper Street apartment in Buffalo and returned to Belmont, according to Allegany County Sheriff Ricky L. Whitney. He was arraigned in Friendship Town Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bail bond.

Manka, who was convicted as a sex offender in Ontario, N.Y., and Brevard County, Fla., faces further proceedings in Amity Town Court, Whitney said.
