Damage placed at $40,000 in Riverside garage fires

A fire that began in a shed next to a garage at 89 Ullman St. ended up causing $40,000 damage to three garages and a fence Tuesday night.

Firefighters were alerted to the Riverside neighborhood blaze about 6:25 p.m. and the fire was extinguished by 7:50 p.m. The flames spread to a two garages and a fence on Argus Street, which is parallel to Ullman. Damage to the Ullman garage was estimated at $13,000, a garage at 102 Argus, $25,000, and a garage and fence at 104 Argus, $2,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
