NIAGARA FALLS – Police searching for a man lurking around vehicles near the Niagara Towers on Cedar Avenue caught him Tuesday night hiding in the back seat of one of those vehicles.
Manuel L. Diaz, 28 of a different address on Cedar Avenue, was charged with possession of burglary tools after police found him with two screwdrivers and a wrench, just after 11 p.m. in the 900 block of Cedar Avenue.
Diaz was carrying a bag with printer ink and a stripped radio, which he told deputies he found on the ground. Officers were trying to locate the owner to determine if there would be additional charges.
Officers found Diaz crouched down in the back seat of a vehicle which he did not own. Diaz said he was not trying to steal anything or hide, but had gone into the unlocked vehicle looking for a place to sleep.
