Dave & Buster’s will open its new location at Walden Galleria Thursday.
The bar, restaurant and arcade is often referred to as a Chuck E. Cheese’s for adults. Its anchor location at Eastern Hills Mall closed Sunday.
The Galleria store is located between Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Cheesecake Factory, with exterior and interior mall entrances. The store wraps around Cheesecake Factory in an “L” shape.
The 33,000-square-foot store is actually smaller than its previous location, but has twice as many television screens and 100 additional games in its arcade midway.
“We’ve packed so much into this one place, it’s smaller but much mightier,” said Alex Purdy, a spokeswoman for Dave & Buster’s.
Dave & Buster’s scuttled the bowling alley it had at its previous location and also downsized its corporate events spaces.
The new location has an added sports lounge with television screens for viewing sports games.
The space was originally intended for a two-story Barnes & Noble store years ago but until recently housed a Jos. A. Bank store and mall storage. The mall bumped out the existing space to build out two floors, which added 6,000 square feet to each story. Billy Beez, an indoor children’s playground, will open upstairs by the end of November.
The first Dave & Buster’s location opened in Dallas in 1982. There are now 85 locations across the United States and Canada, and 10 more locations are in the works.
