One injury was reported after Buffalo firefighters battled a couple of house fires overnight Tuesday.
A civilian suffered a burned hand in a fire at 171 Wakefield Ave. and was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment, according to fire dispatch. The fire at the 2½-story frame home was reported at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday and had started in the attic.
Damage was estimated at $15,000 to the structure and $3,000 to its contents; the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Red Cross was called to assist two adults and two children affected by the fire.
Late Monday night, a fire in the Elmwood Village caused an estimated $120,000 damage.
The fire at 294 Ashland Ave., a 2½-story frame structure, was reported at 11:09 p.m. It caused an estimated $80,000 damage to the building and another $40,000 to the contents.
The cause of that fire also is under investigation; no injuries were reported.
