Light the Night walk raises $440,000

The 17th annual Light the Night Walk, held in Delaware Park last Friday by the Western & Central New York Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raised a record $440,000 in donations, officials report. Nearly 3,000 walkers took part.

Participants carried illuminated lanterns on the 1.75-mile route – white for cancer survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of those who lost their lives to the disease. Contributions raised by the walk will be devoted to finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma and all blood cancers and to improving the lives of patients and their families.
