Since the time she was a high school dropout who walked onto a Greyhound bus to hit comedy open mics around the country, Paula Poundstone has been hustling to become one of the notable female voices of her generation. She brings her act to Asbury Hall at Babeville (341 Delaware Ave.) at 8 p.m. Friday.
With a 32-year career, Poundstone has a variety of credits and accomplishments, most recently becoming a contributor to several NPR shows like, “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me” and “All Things Considered.” She also provided her voice on the recent Pixar hit, “Inside Out.”
One of her strengths as a comedian is her conversational tone with the audience. “No two shows I do are the same,” she said. “It’s not that I don’t repeat material; I do. My shows, when they’re good, and I like to think they often are, are like a cocktail party.”
General admission tickets are $32.50 advance, $40 day of show (box office, Ticketweb.com, Rust Belt Books, Terrapin Station or charge by phone 866-777-8932).
