MARTHINSEN, George Dewey
MARTHINSEN - George Dewey Entered into the Lord's rest on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the VA in Buffalo, NY. He was 80 years old, a Korean War Veteran, loving husband, father, and Papa. George was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI; moving to the Western New York area in 1964 where he raised a family and built a successful business in office material handlings. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club of Hamburg and American Legion Post 362 of East Aurora; where he served two terms as Commander. As an active member of the Post for years, George was known primarily for being the man with the hats at the legion Fish Frys, greeting all that came. George resided in Arcade, NY, enjoying all outdoor activities and sharing stories with his grandchildren. Survived by his bride, Rochelle, of 53 years; children: Michelle (Scott) Nichols of Holland, Mark (Cathy) Marthinsen and Miles (Paula) Marthinsen, both of Arcade; Papa to Eric, Paige, Storm; Bonus Papa to Joe, Sarah; uncle to Ted Baker and Nina Feier; great-uncle to JJ Baker; in addition to many friends.
No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at the East Aurora Crossroads Christian Church, 1050 Girdle Road in Elma on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the East Aurora American
