NIAGARA FALLS – A junior at Niagara Falls High School was suspended Thursday after he threatened to “shoot up” Friday’s pep rally as part of homecoming weekend, though officials say the student afterwards claimed to be joking.
School administrators were notified by students as the junior walked around the lunchroom telling others about his plans.
The student said he was “only kidding” when brought before administrators, who took the incident seriously, said Deputy Superintendent Mark R. Laurrie. An incident report was filed with city police, but no criminal charges are expected in the case.
Friday’s pep rally went off without a hitch, Laurrie said.
