Person Street man arrested for having revolver stolen in Los Angeles

A 28-year-old Person Street man was arrested on a felony weapons charge early Thursday for allegedly having a revolver that was stolen in Los Angeles, Calif., in the spring of 1981.

William Stewart, who reportedly caught the attention of police officers as he was walking on Broadway about 12:30 a.m. Thursday because he fit the description of a suspect wanted in a recent Buffalo crime, began to run when they approached him for questioning. He was allegedly seen pulling from his waist band and throwing away a revolver which Buffalo police said that Los Angeles police later confirmed had been reported stolen there in April 1981.

Stewart was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
