DUNKIRK – A bank robbery suspect was caught Thursday afternoon after he allegedly passed a note to a bank teller and demanded cash.
Police responded to an alarm at Cattaraugus County Bank on the Main Street Extension in Dunkirk. Bank employees described the suspect. City police, Fredonia Police, University Police and members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department including the K- unit secured an area around the bank and located Tyler Moon, 29 of Porters Corners, NY, in a field a short distance from the bank.
Police said he did not display a weapon to the teller who activated the alarm.
He was charged with robbery in the third degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree. He reportedly left the bank with an amount in excess of $1,000. Moon is being held by Dunkirk Police for arraignment.
