Both wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (ribs) and inside linebacker Tony Steward (MCL) were in pads at Wednesday practice, as LeSean McCoy and Percy Harvin were given rest days by the team. During the portion of practice open to the media, Steward was able to do more.
Goodwin, dubbed "McRib" by coach Rex Ryan, and Steward have been out since the team's third exhibition game. While Steward appeared to be a full participant, Goodwin watched special teams drills off to the side.
The team has also decided to be cautious with McCoy after he needed to pull out of practice last Thursday with his hamstring injury. He still performed well in Sunday's loss, rushing for 89 yards on 15 attempts with three receptions for 27 yards, but the team is staying cautious.
Also, NFL Network reported that the Bills have signed Dustin Vaughan to the practice squad. The quarterback was in attendance Wednesday, watching on from the sideline in street clothes. The West Texas A&M quarterback went undrafted in 2014, signing with Dallas.
Cornerback Leodis McKelvin continued to do more work on the sideline on the PUP list.
Also, as Ryan said, safety Aaron Williams (neck) did not practice. He's "a stretch" to play in Miami on Sunday.
