Hoffman’s goal wins for Hamburg

Justus Hoffman scored the winner for No. 8 ranked Hamburg (7-1 ECIC II) in a 1-0 boys soccer victory at Iroquois. Hoffman’s league-leading 19th goal came off a corner kick with an assist by Evan Beale.

“It’s always good to get a road result against a strong team that we have a lot of respect for,” said Hamburg coach Tony Schiappa. “We have a huge showdown at Sweet Home on Saturday at 3 p.m.”

Noah Keem figured in four of the five goals with three goals and an assist as Sweet Home, also once-beaten in the division, defeated West Seneca East, 5-0.

Keem, a junior, has 15 goals and eight assists on the season for the Panthers.

Parker Shetler scored twice, Jameson Railey had a pair of assists and Alfredo Gallo made seven saves in Lancaster’s 5-0 win over West Seneca West in ECIC I. … ECIC III leader Starpoint defeated ECIC II Williamsville East, 5-0, as Dan Mascaro scored twice.

No. 1 Clarence falls at Schroeder

Clarence, ranked No. 1 in Western New York girls soccer, traveled to the Rochester area and lost to Webster Schroeder, 3-1. It was only the second loss for the Red Devils, who are 7-0 in ECIC I play. … Taylor DiMarco scored twice as once-beaten Sacred Heart defeated Mount St. Mary, 5-0, in Monsignor Martin girls soccer. … Newfane improved its Niagara-Orleans League record to 6-1 with a 5-1 triumph at Akron. Kayleigh Daniels (2), Kaylee Heschke, Emily Foltz and Adelyn Burns scored for the Panthers. Halie Hambruch stood out in net for Newfane, which has lost only to Wilson in league.

OP volleyers top Lancaster

Orchard Park and Lancaster were tied for third in the latest WNY Coaches boys volleyball poll, but the Quakers scored a 3-1 victory over the Legends in their ECIC I match. Jason Manley had 24 kills and three aces and Spencer Eagleton piled up 43 assist for the Quakers (6-1, 4-0 ECIC I)in the victory.

Makaila Banks had seven kills, seven digs and three aces while Juli Panepinto recorded 18 assists and two aces for City Honors in a three-set sweep over Starpoint in a nonleague girls volleyball. Iroquois, undefeated in ECIC play (6-0), scored a 5-0 field hockey victory at Holland. Taylor Abraszek had a pair of goals for the Chiefs. … Lauren Vacinek scored four for Pioneer (7-1) in a 7-0 triumph over East Aurora. … Molly Scarpello’s two goals led Lancaster over Hamburg, 4-1.
