LOCKPORT – A count of write-in votes Tuesday showed that Democratic candidate Roger L. Sherrie held the Working Families Party line for the Nov. 3 general election for mayor of Lockport.
Sherrie was the minor party’s endorsed candidate and was the only name listed on the preprinted ballots for the Sept. 10 primary. He received seven votes, but there were eight write-ins.
The Niagara County Board of Elections determined Tuesday that five of those votes were for Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey, the Republican incumbent, and three for Michael J. Pillot, who lost the Democratic primary to Sherrie. The result eliminates Pillot from the general election and sets up a McCaffrey-Sherrie matchup Nov. 3.
