WHEATFIELD – A Lockport man, who had served time in prison on a previous drunken driving conviction, was allegedly driving drunk again when he was stopped for speeding Sunday on Shawnee Road in Wheatfield.
He was also carting around a garbage can from Ted’s Hot Dog on Niagara Falls Boulevard which he said his passenger had taken from they had stopped to urinate.
Shawn C. Harris, 37, of Robinson Road was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with felony driving while intoxicated, failure to use an ignition interlock device, aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding.
Harris was stopped in the 7300 block of Shawnee Road at 1:38 a.m. Sunday traveling 56 in 45 mile per hour zone. He told deputies he had seven beers throughout the day. Deputies found he had a blood alcohol level of 0.11 percent, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
He admitted to deputies his license was revoked after a driving while intoxicated conviction involving personal injury in 2010 and also confirmed he had served three years in state prison on the previous drunken driving conviction.
