Funeral home president arrested in alleged fraud

WILSON – The president of the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home was arrested Tuesday accused of fraudulently receiving more than $15,000 in worker’s compensation fraud.

David A. Ross, 47, of Ransomville was charged on seven felony counts of filing a false instrument. Ross was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Lewiston Court on Sept. 29 where he will additionally face charges of third-degree grand larceny and worker’s compensation fraud.

Investigators allege that between June and December 2011, Ross fraudulently filed on seven occasions and obtained a total of $15,000 in New York State Disability Funds. They said he claimed he had a back injury while he was working as president of the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home.

The investigation was conducted by New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in cooperation with the New York State Insurance Fund.
