Lockport Town Board discusses Teamsters talks

LOCKPORT – The Lockport Town Board held a closed-door meeting Monday to discuss personnel and labor matters, and Supervisor Marc R. Smith said one of the topics was the town’s ongoing contract negotiations with the Teamsters Union.

The Teamsters represent about 24 town employees in the water, sewer and highway departments, but they’ve been without a contract for two years. Smith said no impasse has been declared and the board was discussing the next step in the bargaining.

The town’s tentative 2016 budget, unveiled last week, does not allocate any pay raises for the Teamsters members, while almost all other town employees and officials are projected for 2 percent pay increases next year.
