The Fire Department’s Central Hose #4 will be having its third annual homemade Polish Dinner on Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Northside Fire Station, 112 Brewster St. Dinners are $10 each and includes fresh and smoked polish sausage, two pierogi, sweet and sour cabbage, green beans, rye bread, dessert and a drink ticket.

Pre-sale tickets are encouraged since dinners have sold out the previous two years.

There also will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffles.

Tickets can be purchased by calling Scott at 445-5649 or by sending an e-mail to or stopping by the Northside Fire Station on from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. Proceeds go toward the company’s yearly operating budget.

A second village Meet & Greet for Residents will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 30 for residents of the southwest section of the village. The session will be hosted at the Amvets Buddy Knaus Post #14, 4721 Broadway to discuss potential community development funds for portions of the area, dumpsters/garbage, Zurbrick Road and any other ideas with village officials.

Mayor Jesse Nikonowicz, Deputy Mayor Bob Kucewicz, Village Trustees Kevin Peterson, Karl Buckowiecki and Linda Hammer, along with Police Chief Stanley Carwile, Superintendent of Public Works Phil Fleck, Recreation Director James Ramsey, Fire Chief Joe Whipkey, Code Enforcement Officers Anthony Fischione and Mark Wegner and the head of highways for Cheektowaga will be on hand to answer questions and concerns.

The southwest section of the Village entails the following Streets: Southwest section of Walden Avenue and Broadway (Transit to Dick roads), Burkhardt Avenue, Autumn Lea Road, Bissell, Rossitter, Ledyard, Vanderbilt, Buchanan, University, Canisius, Nardin, Princeton, West First through Fifth streets, Bostwick, Harvard, Chateau Court, Borden (Broadway to Village Line), Rowley Road (Borden to Village Line), Keicher, A Street, Erie, Lehigh, Highland, Lackawanna, N. Bryant, River, Canton, Ellington, Bellevue, Terrace (Transit to Firemans Park, Gould (Transit to Firemans Park), Rutherford Place, Apple, Bigelow, South Bryant, Humboldt, River, S, River, South Canton, Henry, South Bellevue, South Ellington, Cayuga and Zurbrick.
