Filled backpacks go to students in need

The Boys & Girls Club of East Aurora and the Rural Outreach Center distributed 120 backpacks filled with school supplies at the start of the new school year.

Recipients were participants in other ROC activities or identified by schools as students in need of help. Backpacks and supplies were donated by community groups and individuals, including many donated as part of WGRZ-TV’s “2 Pack a Backpack” promotion. Volunteers also provided free haircuts, arts and crafts and science exploration activities, as well as health care opportunities.

The ROC provides multiple services to help individuals and families move from dependency to self-sufficiency. For more information, visit or call 240-2220 to schedule an informational tour.
