Several highly-regarded touring musicians will perform Monday night as the Sportsmen’s Tavern sponsors its first Sportsmen’s Americana Music Foundation Awards Night.
The foundation was started in September 2013 in an effort to increase Buffalo’s stature as a musical hub for the Northeast.
Monday’s event begins at 7 p.m., featuring singer-wongwriter Jim Lauderdale, rockabilly guitarist Bill Kirchen and Kim Lenz & the Jaguars. The club is located at 326 Amherst St..
Awards will be given to Leroy Townes, who will receive the Jim Lauderdale Songwriting Award; Kirchen, Pioneer Award; John and Mary & the Valkries, Americana Band Award; Willie Schoellkopf, Male Vocalist Award; Joelle Labert, Female Vocalist Award; and Susan Jaworski, Foundation Member of the Year.
