Dewitt Street woman arrested in a daylight robbery

A 40-year-old Dewitt Street woman remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center late Wednesday for allegedly robbing a woman at Auburn and West avenues about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Falonda Woods was arrested shortly after the incident for which she was charged with third-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Woods is accused of driving up to the intersection and accosting the victim and using a stun gun to strike the victim in her midsection and grabbing the victim’s cell phone and a lot of personal papers, a debit card and a state benefits card from the victim’s backpack before driving off. She was arrested blocks away on Auburn Avenue.
