Michael D. Smith, of Youngstown, a disc jockey whose talents benefited many local charities, died Friday in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston after a lengthy illness. He was 47.
Born in Lewiston, Mr. Smith was a 1985 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from the University at Buffalo.
For the past 30 years, Mr. Smith owned and operated Asylum Productions and, as a DJ, volunteered his time for charity functions.
He was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and an honorary member of Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company. He was a New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include a son, Andrew; his parents, David P. and Judith A.; a brother, Timothy E.; and his former wife, Allison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bernard’s Church, Hinman and Second streets, Youngstown.
