Seventh Street gang member pleads guilty in racketeering case

Esteban Ramos-Cruz, 27, a member of the West Side’s Seventh Street Gang, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara Friday to racketeering conspiracy, a violatiion of the federal RICO law.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. said Ramos-Cruz faces a possible life term and a fine of as much as $250,000 when he is sentenced Jan. 13. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi said that from 2000 to 2012, Cruz sold drugs on the West Side and, on Aug. 11, 2009, participated in the slaying of Eric Morrow, a member of the rival 10th Street Gang.
